The child’s companion book

This is the child’s companion book to, “Ode to the Humans Who’ve Loved and Left Me” by the same author. I read this one with my five year old first (we have two cats) and thought it was cute. I probably would have given it only four stars if I’d stopped there. Then I read the adult version which obviously offers a lot more plot and character development. It gave the children’s book context when answering questions my daughter asked like, “Why did this cat have so many homes?”. It was a good lesson in empathy with animals and our responsibility to them when we take them into our homes as pets. —junebug
